National Ambulance Commits to the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi

Three-year partnership agreement with World Sport for emergency medical support for athletes and audience

Abu Dhabi, Sunday, 26 February 2017: National Ambulance and World Sport have signed a partnership agreement whereby the emergency medical provider will provide onsite support for the world-class ITU World Triathlon event in Abu Dhabi for the next three years. 

National Ambulance’s highly trained clinical staff of 30 and five ambulances will be on hand at the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi on 3 and 4 March on the iconic Yas Island to support thousands of participants and spectators. “National Ambulance is proud to have been chosen as World Sport’s partner for the ITU World Triathlon in Abu Dhabi," said Ahmed Saleh Al Hajeri, Deputy CEO of National Ambulance. 

"We want to be right at the front and centre of major international sporting events that take place in the UAE capital and add value to participants and visitors alike. We have considerable experience of covering high profile events and will be deploying our expert team and advanced medical equipment to ensure that everyone, from elite athletes to spectators, is able to enjoy their time at the triathlon. As well as providing emergency medical support, we also want to encourage local communities to get active through great events such as this. Together we can turn our shared passion for a healthy lifestyle into a healthy nation." added Al Hajeri.

The ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi has witnessed steady growth in the UAE under the auspices of event host partner the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. This year’s race will see an increase of 40% in mass participation as the ITU World Triathlon Series season opener moves to a new venue on Yas Island and expands to a two-day event. The ambition is to attract 6,000 athletes in 2019, making Abu Dhabi on of the ITU’s top five cities in the world for participation. National Ambulance will provide support for both the elite race and the age group races as the event aims for unprecedented growth.

National Ambulance provides onsite emergency medical coverage and support across the emirate of Abu Dhabi and is the ambulance service provider in the Northern Emirates. This includes support for high profile events, such as the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix, Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and Volvo Ocean Race as well as onsite teams at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Civil Defence Academy and Etihad Airlines that provide constant emergency medical support. National Ambulance also provides patient transfer services between medical facilities, including patients who need to be moved from an airport for medical procedures.
