National Ambulance Increases Readiness to 120% in Preparation for Eid Al Fitr Holiday in the Northern Emirates

Additional resources to be deployed around hot spots as part of the pre-emergency plan

Abu Dhabi, 13 June 2018: National Ambulance announced that it has taken all emergency preparation and proactive measures for the upcoming Eid Al Adha period. This comes as part of an integrated pre-emergency plan to increase emergency resources by 20% leading to 120% readiness to ensure public safety and preparedness to deal with emergency situations and potential road traffic accidents across the Northern Emirates during the public holiday.  

As part of the pre-emptive preparations, National Ambulance will work closely with its strategic partners in the Ministry of Interior, mainly Police and Civil Defence, as well as the Ministry of Health and Prevention and its hospitals. In addition, National Ambulance will be activating its proactive emergency plan dedicated for public holidays, which will raise levels of readiness and alertness through the re-distribution of medical emergency crews and putting extra ambulances on the road. These additional resources will be deployed around hot spots and vital roads according to data collected by National Ambulance and shared by strategic partners in readiness to ensure public safety and efficient response during the Eid period across the Northern Emirates. 

Ahmed Saleh Al Hajeri, Deputy CEO, National Ambulance said, “National Ambulance wishes everyone Eid Mubarak. During the holiday period, our dedicated team of ambulance crews and Ambulance Communications Centre will be on full alert, and efficiently coordinating with our strategic partners, to respond and deal with emergency calls and incidents that may arise at this important time; ensuring the public receives the most effective assistance possible. We urge people to call us on 998 or use the NA998 App in case they need emergency ambulance. While we hope everyone has a joyous and safe Eid, we are here to help whenever we are needed.” 

While wishing everyone best greetings for the holiday, Al Hajeri, cautioned the public and urged them to be more careful on the roads, abide by the general safety instructions for driving and safety procedures in shopping malls, beaches, parks and other public places. He also stressed the need for parents to watch over their children during Eid celebrations warning them of the dangers of drowning, run-over accidents and of children playing with fireworks and firecrackers which often result in injuries. 

As well as using the 998 emergency ambulance call number for emergency situations, people in the Northern Emirates can directly contact National Ambulance Communications Centre through the National Ambulance 998 App. Registered users can at the touch of a button request an emergency ambulance. The request goes immediately to National Ambulance’s Communications Centre, where trained staff are able to respond and dispatch an ambulance directly to the scene through GPS tracking.  The App is available for IOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry.

National Ambulance commenced operations in the Northern Emirates in 2014 to provide a dedicated pre-hospital emergency response to patients across the Northern Emirates. Its primary task is to handle public medical emergency response and provide high levels of pre-hospital care to citizens and residents across the Emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah and Fujairah.
