Excellence at National Ambulance Rewarded with ‘Gold Seal’ Accreditation from Joint Commission International

Prestigious accreditation given for the second time in a row

Abu Dhabi, 01 March 2017: National Ambulance has received again ‘Gold Seal Accreditation’ from the Joint Commission International accreditation (JCI) for its success in maintaining high quality Medical Emergency Service standards. The prestigious international standard was recently given for the second time in a row to the emergency pre-hospital care provider following extensive independent verification of its services across the UAE.

As part of the process, the JCI auditors  surveyed all of National Ambulance’s operations in the UAE, including but not limited to; the Northern Emirates public emergency service, Patient Care standards such as Abu Dhabi Airport, Cleveland Clinic and Yas Marina Circuit) and the 998 Ambulance Communications Centre. The JCI conducted a rigorous assessment of all clinical, operational and administrative functions within National Ambulance and interviewed employees at all levels across the organisation.

Ahmed Saleh Al Hajeri Deputy CEO of National Ambulance said: “Achieving the Gold Seal of Accreditation from JCI for the second time in a row reflects the high standards and quality that prevail within National Ambulance. This year’s achievement builds on accreditation received in previous years and is a recognition of the continued pursuit of excellence National Ambulance strives to deliver in the UAE.

Al Hajeri added: “With National Ambulance, as a pre-hospital emergency medical service, maintaining JCI accreditation and the majority of UAE hospitals also achieving JCI accreditation, patients in the UAE should be confident in the complete medical emergency experience- from ambulance transport to hospital treatment. It also complements the Ministry of Health and Health Authority-Abu Dhabi’s long-term, strategic goals for health care in the UAE.”

JCI is an international standard for quality healthcare and patient safety. It requires health care organisations to meet exacting performance standards across all of its operations including clinical governance and administration. The standards are respected across the world and reflect the achievement of high quality and best practice in patient care. This independent and globally recognised third party provides external standards of excellence for hospital and medical transport services defined by an international board of directors.  It continually evaluates more than 20,000 organisations and inspires them to excel in providing international standard safe and effective patient care

National Ambulance provides round-the-clock emergency pre-hospital care in the Northern Emirates through the dedicated 998 emergency ambulance number. National Ambulance also works with government and private clients across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to support their requirements; ranging from short-term engagements such as public events through a dedicated team to long-term engagement including constant onsite emergency medical support and patient transfer.
